Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup dish soap Look for one that creates good suds!
  • 2/3 cup warm water Just warm enough to help things dissolve, but not too hot.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or cream of tartar optional, for stiffer foam
  • Food coloring optional
  • Baby-safe essential oils optional, a drop or two
  • Eco glitter or biodegradable confetti optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Whisk
  • Sensory Bin

Method

  1. Step 1: Combine Liquids In a mixing bowl, pour in your warm water and then add the dish soap. Give it a gentle stir to combine.
  2. Step 2: Add the Stabilizer (Optional) If you’re using it, sprinkle in the cornstarch or cream of tartar. This is what helps create those lovely stiff peaks, almost like whipped cream!
  3. Step 3: Color and Scent (Optional) Now’s the time to get creative! Add a few drops of your chosen food coloring and a drop or two of baby-safe essential oil if you like. Swirl it gently to mix the colors without creating too many suds yet.
  4. Step 4: Whip It Good! Grab your electric mixer and beat the mixture on high speed. You’ll be amazed as it starts to transform from a liquid into a fluffy, airy foam! Keep going until you achieve stiff peaks – like meringue!
  5. Step 5: Transfer and Play! Carefully spoon your beautiful Bubble Foam into a sensory bin, a large bowl, or even individual containers. If you’re adding eco glitter or confetti, now’s the time to sprinkle it on top!

Notes

For a smoother foam: If you don’t have cornstarch or cream of tartar, you can skip it. The foam won’t be as stiff, but it will still be wonderfully bubbly and fun for play. Different scents: Experiment with other baby-safe essential oils like sweet orange or even a tiny bit of peppermint. Texture play: Mix in some dried pasta shapes or even uncooked rice into the foam for added tactile exploration. Color play: Instead of food coloring, try using natural colorants like beet powder for pink or spirulina for green.
