Ingredients

For the Fries
  • 1 pound frozen French fries straight-cut fries work best
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
For the Nacho Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup Cheez Whiz cheese dip
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 5 teaspoons brine from bottled sliced jalapeño peppers
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper optional

Equipment

  • Small bowl
  • Large bowl
  • Deep Fryer or Baking Sheet
  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Step 1: Grab a small bowl and let's mix up our magic dust! Combine the paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and that optional cayenne pepper. Give it a good stir until everything is nicely blended.
  2. Step 2: Now, let's get those fries crispy! Deep-fry them at 375°F (190°C) for about 3 to 5 minutes, until they're a beautiful golden brown. Alternatively, bake them according to the package directions until golden and crispy.
  3. Step 3: Once your fries are perfectly cooked and piping hot, transfer them into a large bowl. Generously sprinkle that amazing seasoning blend all over them. Gently toss the fries until every single one is coated.
  4. Step 4: In a small saucepan, heat over low heat. Add your Cheez Whiz, whole milk, the precious jalapeño brine, and that little pinch of cayenne pepper. Keep whisking gently and continuously until smooth, creamy, and heated through.
  5. Step 5: Arrange your beautifully seasoned fries on a serving platter. Pour that luscious nacho cheese sauce into a small bowl for dipping. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure your cooking oil is at the correct temperature (375°F/190°C) if deep-frying, and don't overcrowd the pan. If baking, make sure your oven is fully preheated. You can mix the seasoning blend a day or two in advance.
