- Step 1: Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté until fragrant.
- Step 2: Add the chopped onion and cook until golden brown. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for another minute.
- Step 3: Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 4: Stir in the curry powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Step 5: Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Step 6: Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Step 7: Stir in the garam masala and adjust seasoning if necessary. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Step 8: Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for 30 minutes and drain.
- Step 9: In a pot, combine the soaked rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Step 10: Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir in the butter.
- Step 11: In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Step 12: In a separate bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and yogurt; knead until a soft dough forms.
- Step 13: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Step 14: Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each out into a flat circle.
- Step 15: Cook each naan in the skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until puffed and golden. Brush with melted butter before serving.
