Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 batch
Course: Craft

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup thick liquid soap or body wash Thicker ones work best
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch plus more if needed
  • food coloring or liquid watercolors optional
  • glitter or scent optional (essential oils or soap-safe fragrance)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Step 1: The Base. Grab a mixing bowl and pour in your 1/4 cup of thick liquid soap or body wash.
  2. Step 2: Add Some Pizzazz! If you’re using color, glitter, or scent, now’s the time to add them. Stir everything together until it’s a uniform color and all the bits are mixed in.
  3. Step 3: The Thickening Agent. Start adding the cornstarch, about a tablespoon at a time. Stir really well after each addition. You'll notice the mixture starting to change consistency.
  4. Step 4: Reaching Slime Perfection. Keep adding cornstarch, stirring thoroughly, until the mixture starts to thicken up and pull away from the sides of the bowl. It will look a bit clumpy, but that’s exactly what we want!
  5. Step 5: Knead it Out! Once it’s mostly come together, turn it out onto a clean surface (or just keep working it in the bowl) and knead it for about a minute. It will become soft, smooth, and delightfully dough-like. If it’s still too sticky, you can knead in a tiny bit more cornstarch.

Notes

Store your no-glue soap slime in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag. This will prevent it from drying out. Kept properly, it should last for several days to a week. If it starts to feel a little dry after a few days, you can try adding a tiny drop of water or more soap and kneading it again.
