Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar base of cinnamon sugar coating
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon adds warm, comforting spice
  • 1/4 tsp salt pinch to balance sweetness
For the Buttered Cheerios
  • 1/2 cup salted butter sliced, melts into Cheerios
  • 1.25 tsp pure vanilla extract adds warmth and depth
  • 4 cups plain Cheerios cereal crunchy, classic base

Equipment

  • Nonstick Skillet
  • Small bowl
  • Spatula or Spoon

Method

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt the sliced butter completely. Stir in the vanilla extract to infuse flavor.
  3. Step 3: Add the Cheerios to the skillet. Stir constantly for 3 to 5 minutes until they turn light golden and smell toasty and buttery.
  4. Step 4: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the Cheerios and toss well to coat every piece evenly. Spread on a parchment-lined tray or plate to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use a nonstick skillet to prevent sticking and burning. Stir constantly while toasting. Cool completely before storing to avoid clumping. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Try swapping sugars or adding mix-ins like mini chocolate chips or nuts for variety.
