Method
- Arrange translucent pony beads in a single layer inside your metal baking dishes, creating patterns or filling them in. Ensure beads don't overlap too much.
- Preheat your outdoor grill or toaster oven to a moderate temperature (around 300-350°F or 150-175°C).
- Carefully place the filled baking dishes into the preheated grill or toaster oven. Melt the beads for about 10 minutes, or until they fuse into a solid, smooth piece. Watch closely to prevent overheating.
- Carefully remove the baking dishes from the heat and let them cool completely, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
- Gently invert the baking dishes to release the cooled, melted bead suncatchers.
- Create a small hole near the edge of each suncatcher using a drill with a small bit or a hot poker (with adult supervision).
- Thread your chosen string or twine through the holes, tie a knot, and hang your suncatchers in a window to enjoy!
Notes
Add fine glitter for extra sparkle, layer colors for ombré effects, or use shaped molds for different forms. Work in a well-ventilated area and ensure adult supervision during heating and cooling steps. Disposable aluminum tins can simplify cleanup.
