  • 1 cup buttermilk This is key for marinating, adding moisture and flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For that crispy coating you’ll love.

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances the overall flavor profile.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Brings a lovely color and a hint of smokiness.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Essential for seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adds just the right amount of kick.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional) For those who enjoy a little heat.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter For that rich, buttery flavor.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish A pop of color and freshness on top.

Equipment

  • Large Oven-Safe Skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. Step 1: In a bowl, combine the chicken breasts and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Step 2: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Getting that oven nice and hot is crucial.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  4. Step 4: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  5. Step 5: In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the coated chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Step 7: Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
