  1. Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. This mixture will serve as the foundation of your dough.
  2. Step 2: Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms. You’ll want to mix until it’s nice and smooth.
  3. Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until it is smooth and pliable.
  4. Step 4: Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). This low heat will ensure your ornaments dry slowly and evenly.
  5. Step 5: Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Get your favorite cookie cutters ready to create festive shapes!
  6. Step 6: Use a straw to make a hole at the top of each ornament for hanging.
  7. Step 7: Place the ornaments on a baking sheet and bake for 2-3 hours, or until they are completely hard.
  8. Step 8: Once cooled, decorate the ornaments with food coloring, glitter, or paint as desired.
  9. Step 9: Allow the decorations to dry completely before using.

Notes

To store your salt dough ornaments, keep them in a cool, dry place. They can last for years if properly cared for.
