Ingredients

For the Glow Bubble Mix
  • 1 cup bubble solution store-bought or homemade
  • 1 yellow or green highlighter the brighter, the better!
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 small squirt dish soap optional, for more durable bubbles
For Homemade Bubble Solution (Optional)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons dish soap
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup or sugar helps make stronger bubbles

Equipment

  • Small bowl or cup
  • Scissors
  • Bubble wand (or straw/pipe cleaner loop)
  • UV blacklight
  • Airtight container for storage

Method

  1. Step 1: Extract the Glow: Carefully cut open the highlighter and gently pull out the felt ink tube. Place the ink tube into a small bowl or cup with 1/4 cup of warm water. Let it soak for 10–15 minutes until the water turns a vibrant color.
  2. Step 2: Make the Glow Bubble Mix: Remove the felt tube from the water. Pour the colored, glowing water into your main bubble solution (store-bought or homemade). Add the optional squirt of dish soap if desired. Give it a gentle stir.
  3. Step 3: Bubble Time! Head to a dimly lit room or go outside after dark. Dip your bubble wand into the glow bubble solution. Blow gently and watch the bubbles float. Shine your UV blacklight on the bubbles to see them glow!

Notes

Test different highlighter colors for varied glow effects. Ensure your blacklight is strong for the best results. The solution can be stored in an airtight container for about a week.
