- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a muffin tin or line it with paper liners for easy removal.
- Step 2: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Step 6: Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about halfway.
- Step 7: Add a teaspoon of your chosen fruit-flavored jelly on top of the batter in each cup.
- Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Allow the cakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Step 10: Serve as is or top with fresh fruit or whipped cream if desired.
