Ingredients

For the Loaf
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour the base for a soft, tender loaf
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar for just the right touch of sweetness
  • 2 tsp baking powder helps it rise beautifully and stay fluffy
  • 0.5 tsp salt balances the flavors
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon the star spice that gives warmth and aroma
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg adds a subtle depth and cozy flavor
  • 0.5 cup milk moistens the batter perfectly
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil keeps the loaf tender and soft
  • 1 large egg binds everything together
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract a sweet, fragrant lift
  • 0.25 cup butter melted, enriches the batter with buttery goodness
For the Glaze
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar for glaze, a sweet finishing touch
  • pinch cinnamon for glaze, to echo cinnamon flavor
  • splash milk for glaze, to make the glaze smooth and drizzle-ready

Equipment

  • Loaf pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan well to prevent sticking.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly mixed.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, vegetable oil, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth and inviting.
  4. Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. A few lumps are okay—don’t overmix!
  5. Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Step 6: Let the loaf rest in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Step 7: While the loaf cools, whisk together powdered sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, and a splash of milk until smooth.
  8. Step 8: Drizzle the glaze generously over the cooled loaf. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make substitutions like almond, oat, or soy milk for dairy-free options. Swap vegetable oil for melted coconut oil for a tropical twist. Add nuts or raisins for extra texture, or swirl in cream cheese before baking for a luscious surprise. Store wrapped on the counter for up to 3 days or refrigerate for about a week. Freeze sliced portions and thaw or warm gently when ready to eat.
