Method
- Step 1: Trace a circle or flower shape onto your black paper or plastic lid. Cut out the center to create a hollow frame.
- Step 2: Peel the backing off a piece of clear contact paper and stick it, sticky side up, onto your work surface. Tape down the edges if needed to prevent curling.
- Step 3: Tear or cut yellow and orange tissue paper into petal shapes. Arrange them around the outer edge of the black frame on the sticky contact paper, layering them for depth. Press gently.
- Step 4: Fill the center of the frame with brown tissue paper or crushed black paper to represent the sunflower's center. Press down.
- Step 5: Carefully place another piece of contact paper, sticky side down, over the entire creation. Press firmly to seal, avoiding air bubbles. Trim any excess contact paper or paper beyond the frame.
- Step 6: Punch a small hole at the top of the suncatcher. Thread string through the hole to hang it in a window, or use a suction cup hook.
Notes
Handle tissue paper gently as it can tear easily. Ensure your contact paper is clear for best light transmission. Pre-cutting frames can save time for group activities.
