  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon dish soap
  • food coloring or liquid watercolor optional
  • 1 mixing container
  • 1 spoon or spatula for mixing

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Gather all the materials and prepare a clean workspace.
  2. Step 2: Combine the fine sand and cornstarch in a mixing container. Stir until thoroughly blended.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix the water and dish soap. Add a few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolor if desired.
  4. Step 4: Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture while stirring continuously.
  5. Step 5: Once combined, knead the mixture with your hands for a few minutes until the texture becomes soft and moldable.
  6. Step 6: Scoop, mold, shape, and enjoy your homemade kinetic sand.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and sensory play accessories. If the mixture is too wet, gradually add more sand and cornstarch. Store leftover kinetic sand in an airtight container.
