Equipment

  • Clear glass circles or clear acrylic discs
  • Glass paint or permanent markers
  • Small brushes or toothpicks
  • Liquid leading or puffy paint
  • Ribbon, twine, or fishing line
  • Suction cup hooks or window-safe hanging method
  • Laminating pouches or transparency sheets

  • Scissors
  • String or invisible thread
  • Black paper

Method

  1. Option A: Glass Paint Suncatcher
    1. Wash and thoroughly dry your glass or acrylic disc.
    2. Use liquid leading or puffy paint to draw your design onto the disc. Let it dry for 1-2 hours.
    3. Fill in the outlined sections with glass paint using brushes or toothpicks. Let the paint dry overnight until transparent.
    4. Tie twine or fishing line through a pre-drilled hole, or glue a small hook to the back for hanging.
    5. Hang in a sunny window and enjoy!
  2. Option B: Pressed Flower Suncatcher
    1. Arrange dried flowers and leaves between two sheets of transparency or inside a laminating pouch.
    2. Laminate the arrangement or seal the edges securely with clear-drying glue. Cut into your desired shape.
    3. Optionally, cut a ring of black paper to fit around the edge for a framed look.
    4. Create an opening at the top and thread string or invisible thread through it, or use a suction hook for hanging.
    5. Hang in a sunny window.

Notes

Tips for Success: Always start with a clean surface. Don't rush the drying process for glass paints, allow them to dry overnight. Work in thin, even layers. Ensure good ventilation when using paints or markers.
Storage: Store in a window where they catch light. Handle with care to avoid scratches. Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth. For off-season storage, wrap individually in tissue paper and store in a cool, dry place.
