Ingredients

  • 1 cup Baking Soda the base, absorbent
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch helps bind and provides smooth texture
  • 1/3–1/2 cup Water added gradually
  • 10–20 drops Essential Oil your favorite scents (e.g., lavender, citrus)
  • Optional Natural Food Coloring or Mica Powder for color

Equipment

  • Medium-sized mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Silicone molds or small cookie cutters
  • Parchment Paper (optional)
  • Airtight container or mesh sachets

Method

  1. Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together baking soda and cornstarch until well combined and free of clumps.
  2. Step 2: If desired, add natural food coloring or mica powder to the dry ingredients and stir until the color is evenly distributed.
  3. Step 3: Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, stirring constantly, until a firm, pliable dough forms. The consistency should be moldable and not sticky.
  4. Step 4: Add essential oils to the dough and gently knead until they are well incorporated.
  5. Step 5: Press the dough firmly into silicone molds or use cookie cutters to shape the stones. Alternatively, roll the dough into small balls or discs.
  6. Step 6: Smooth the surfaces and edges of the aroma stones with your fingers or a spatula for a neat finish.
  7. Step 7: Place the shaped stones on a clean surface or parchment-lined baking sheet and let them air dry at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours, until they feel hard and completely dry.
  8. Step 8: Once dry, store the aroma stones in an airtight container or mesh sachets to preserve their scent.
  9. Step 9: Place the aroma stones in drawers, closets, cars, or any small space you wish to scent.

Notes

If the dough is too crumbly, add a tiny bit more water. If it's too sticky, add more cornstarch or baking soda. Ensure good air circulation for even drying.
