Method
- Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients. Grab your mixing bowl and pour in the baking soda and cornstarch. Give them a good stir with your spoon to make sure they're well combined.
- Step 2: Add the Water. Add about half of the warm water to the dry ingredients, and then gradually add more while mixing to achieve a thick, moldable paste. Adjust consistency with tiny amounts of water or dry ingredients as needed.
- Step 3: Infuse with Fragrance. Add 15 drops of essential oils and mix thoroughly. Add more drops if a stronger scent is desired, ensuring even distribution.
- Step 4: Add Color (Optional). If using, add a drop or two of natural coloring and gently mix until an even shade is achieved.
- Step 5: Mold Your Stones. Spoon the mixture into silicone molds, cookie cutters, or ice cube trays, filling them about 3/4 full. If using cookie cutters, press the mixture onto a parchment-lined tray first.
- Step 6: Let Them Dry. Place the molds or trays in a well-ventilated area and let them air dry completely. This can take 6 to 24 hours. They are ready when they feel hard and dry to the touch.
- Step 7: Unmold and Enjoy! Carefully pop the dry aroma stones out of the molds. Place them in a small bowl in your bathroom, closet, or any desired location for a gentle scent.
Notes
For added visual appeal and scent, gently press dried flowers or herbs into the wet mixture before it dries. Citrus zest can also add a subtle natural fragrance. To refresh fading scents, add a few more drops of essential oil directly onto the stone. Store dry stones in an airtight container to preserve fragrance.
