Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Baking Soda the base that helps absorb and hold the fragrance
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch gives the stones their smooth texture and firm up the mixture
  • 1/4 cup Warm Water to bring everything together into a nice paste
  • 15–30 drops Essential Oil(s) Choose your favorite calming or uplifting scents
  • Optional: Natural Coloring A drop or two for a pretty hue

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Silicone molds, cookie cutters, or ice cube trays
  • Parchment paper or a drying tray

Method

  1. Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients. Grab your mixing bowl and pour in the baking soda and cornstarch. Give them a good stir with your spoon to make sure they're well combined.
  2. Step 2: Add the Water. Add about half of the warm water to the dry ingredients, and then gradually add more while mixing to achieve a thick, moldable paste. Adjust consistency with tiny amounts of water or dry ingredients as needed.
  3. Step 3: Infuse with Fragrance. Add 15 drops of essential oils and mix thoroughly. Add more drops if a stronger scent is desired, ensuring even distribution.
  4. Step 4: Add Color (Optional). If using, add a drop or two of natural coloring and gently mix until an even shade is achieved.
  5. Step 5: Mold Your Stones. Spoon the mixture into silicone molds, cookie cutters, or ice cube trays, filling them about 3/4 full. If using cookie cutters, press the mixture onto a parchment-lined tray first.
  6. Step 6: Let Them Dry. Place the molds or trays in a well-ventilated area and let them air dry completely. This can take 6 to 24 hours. They are ready when they feel hard and dry to the touch.
  7. Step 7: Unmold and Enjoy! Carefully pop the dry aroma stones out of the molds. Place them in a small bowl in your bathroom, closet, or any desired location for a gentle scent.

Notes

For added visual appeal and scent, gently press dried flowers or herbs into the wet mixture before it dries. Citrus zest can also add a subtle natural fragrance. To refresh fading scents, add a few more drops of essential oil directly onto the stone. Store dry stones in an airtight container to preserve fragrance.
