Ingredients
  

For the Crispy Battered Fish
  • 1 lb white fish fillets such as cod or haddock
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water
  • Oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Give it a good mix!
  2. Step 2: Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Step 3: Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Step 4: Dip the fish fillets into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Step 5: Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Step 6: Fry for 4-5 minutes or until the fish is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Step 7: Remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper towels.
