For the Bisque
  • 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb crab meat fresh or canned
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning

  1. Step 1: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  2. Step 2: Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  3. Step 3: Gradually add the seafood stock, whisking to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Step 4: Add the shrimp and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  5. Step 5: Stir in the crab meat, heavy cream, and Old Bay seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Step 6: Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Step 7: Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When reheating, do so gently on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of seafood stock or water if it becomes too thick.
