  • 3 cups cooked rice day-old and cold
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables carrots or your favorite veggies
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Wok
  • Spoon or Spatula

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare the rice by breaking apart any clumps with your hands or a fork to keep grains separate for perfect fried rice texture.
  2. Step 2: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, spreading it out. Brown and break apart with a spoon. Cook until no pink remains and some pieces are caramelized.
  3. Step 3: Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with beef. Cook until onion is translucent and soft, and garlic is fragrant but not browned.
  4. Step 4: Stir in mixed vegetables. Cook until tender but still slightly crisp.
  5. Step 5: Add the rice to the skillet. Stir to combine with beef and vegetables. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir thoroughly to coat all ingredients. Heat through for a couple minutes.
  6. Step 6: Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot directly from the pan.
