Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Set this aside.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Step 4: Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 5: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Step 7: Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie.
- Step 8: Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look a bit soft, but they will firm up as they cool.
- Step 9: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To keep your cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can freeze the baked cookies for up to three months.
