  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 21 oz cherry pie filling
  • 8 oz Cool Whip plus extra for topping
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet mini chocolate chips divided
  • maraschino cherries optional, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until fluffy and smooth.
  2. Step 2: Gently stir in the cherry pie filling, keeping cherries whole.
  3. Step 3: Fold in Cool Whip until well combined and silky.
  4. Step 4: Fold in 1 cup of the mini chocolate chips evenly throughout the filling.
  5. Step 5: Pour filling into chocolate pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Step 6: Refrigerate pie for 3 to 4 hours to fully set.
  7. Step 7: Before serving, top with extra Cool Whip, sprinkle remaining chocolate chips, and garnish with maraschino cherries if desired.

Notes

Use a graham cracker or regular pastry crust if preferred. Try dairy-free cream cheese or different fruit fillings for variations. Add almond extract or cocoa powder for extra flavor. Store covered in fridge up to 4 days. Let sit 10 minutes at room temperature before slicing if desired.
