- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the poblano peppers on a baking sheet and roast them until the skins are blistered and charred, about 20-25 minutes. Remove them from the oven and place them in a bowl covered with plastic wrap to steam for 10 minutes.
- Step 2: After steaming, peel off the skins, remove the seeds, and chop the peppers into small pieces.
- Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped poblano peppers, Monterey Jack cheese, ricotta cheese, garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well combined.
- Step 4: Grab a wonton wrapper and lay it on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center. Moisten the edges with water and fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, pressing to seal. Repeat this until you’ve used up all your wrappers and filling.
- Step 5: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the wontons in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them and let them drain on paper towels.
- Step 6: For the jalapeño soy sauce, whisk together the soy sauce, chopped jalapeño, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl until everything is nicely blended.
- Step 7: Serve the fried wontons hot with the jalapeño soy sauce for dipping. Enjoy every bite!
Notes
If you have any leftover wontons, let them cool completely before storing. Place them in an airtight container in the fridge, and they should last for about 3 days.
