Ingredients

For the Cheesesteak Filling
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef Ribeye or any thinly sliced steak
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers mixed colors
  • 1 cup sliced onions Yellow or white
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt for veggies
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper for veggies
For the Garlic Bread
  • 1 large loaf Italian bread
  • 3 tbsp garlic butter
  • fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil

Method

  1. Step 1: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned. Remove beef and set aside. Add a splash of oil if needed, then sauté bell peppers and onions until softened. Season with salt and pepper. Return beef to the skillet, stir to combine, and remove from heat.
  2. Step 2: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice Italian bread in half horizontally, leaving one side hinged. Hollow out some of the soft bread from both halves to create a pocket. Brush the cut sides generously with garlic butter.
  3. Step 3: Sprinkle half the provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture evenly over the cheese. Top with the remaining provolone cheese. Close the loaf and place on a baking sheet. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil.
  4. Step 4: Bake for 15–20 minutes, then carefully unwrap the foil. Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Step 5: Sprinkle with fresh parsley. Let cool for a minute or two, then slice into portions and serve warm.

Notes

Consider adding mushrooms or a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra flavor. A mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese can be substituted for provolone.
